Ingredients

170 gm butter or olive oil
300 ml all-purpose flour
2 L water
70 gm Custom Culinary® Gold Label Beef Base or Custom Culinary® Gold Label Savory Roasted® Beef Base
5 ml caramel color (optional)
2 1/2 ml black pepper, ground

Directions

  1. In a 4 Liter sauce pan over medium heat, melt butter or heat olive oil and blend in flour. Cook 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  2. Add water, Gold Label Beef Base, caramel color and black pepper. Blend thoroughly.
  3. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
